Control grid

A wire mesh element located between the cathode and plate of an electron tube which controls the flow of electrons between the two elements. The control grid draws no current, and as such, presents a high impedance to the driving circuit. Voltage variations on the control grid, with respect to the cathode, cause variations in plate current, which is the basis of amplification within the tube.
