Founded in 1941, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) is an international association representing the interests of professionals in surveying, mapping and communicating spatial data relating to the Earth's surface. Today, ACSM's members include more than 7,000 surveyors, cartographers, geodesists, and other spatial data information professionals working in both public and private sectors throughout the world.
ACSM is composed of the following four member organization:
* The American Association for Geodetic Surveying (AAGIS) (15%)
* The Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) (15%)
* The Geographic and Land Information Society (GLIS) (10%)
* The National Society of Professional Surveyors, Inc. (NSPS) (70%)
