Sometimes referred to as “Big Blue” IBM is a multinational corporation headquartered in Armonk, New York. It manufactures computer hardware and software and provides information technology and services.
(1) In the storage industry, a concept in which a pool of storage is created that contains several disk subsystems. Subsystems from various vendors can be used. The pool can be split into virtual disks (VDisks) that are visible to the host systems that use them.<br />(2) A technique that encapsulates the characteristics of resources from the way in which other systems interact with those resources.
