(1) An eight-character identifier that is used by the z/OS Workload Manager to associate customer performance goals with a particular DDF thread or procedure. A service class is also used to classify work on parallelism assistants.<br />(2) A group of work that has the same service goals or performance objectives, resource requirements, or availability requirements. For workload management, a service goal and, optionally, a resource group is assigned to a service class.<br />(3) An entity that acts as a point of resource control and monitoring for a set of database connections and activities within a DB2 database.
