(1) An extension to an SNMP agent that permits a user to dynamically add, or in some cases replace, management variables in the local MIB, thereby providing a means of extending the range of information that network managers may access.
(2) An agent that the coordinator agent enlists to speed up SQL processing. See also coordinating agent.
(3) A logical grouping of bundles and services on the common agent. An application uses a subagent to perform actions on a system where the common agent is installed. See also agent, bundle, common agent.

(1) In i5/OS, one of several different sets of data, each with the same format, within one database file.
(2) A data object in a structure, a union, or a library.
(3) A C++ data object or function in a structure, union or class. Members can also be classes, enumerations, bit fields and type names.
(4) A partition of a partitioned data set (PDS) or partitioned data set extended (PDSE).
(5) A person, group, or organization known to the system. A member can be a user, an organization, an organization unit, or a member group.
(6) A specific function of a multisystem application that is defined to the cross-system coupling facility (XCF) and assigned to a group by the multisystem application. A member residing on one system in a sysplex can use XCF services to communicate with other members of the sysplex.
(7) In multidimensional clustering, the element of a dimension. See also dimension.

(1) Pertaining to a state of the processing unit that allows the occurrence of certain types of interruptions. See also disabled.
(2) Pertaining to the state in which a communication device can accept incoming calls on a line.
(3) In VTAM, pertaining to a logical unit (LU) that has indicated to its system services control point (SSCP) that it is ready to establish LU-LU sessions. The LU can separately indicate whether this prevents it from acting as a primary logical unit (PLU) or a secondary logical unit (SLU). See also disabled, inhibited.
(4) A condition of the printer (physically selected) in which the printer is available to the host processor for normal work. The enabled condition is also called online.
(5) Pertaining to a condition that results in the execution of condition handlers or in the performance of a standard system action to handle the condition.
Industry:Software
(1) An i5/OS component that performs the final step in a program or module compilation. In the Integrated Language Environment (ILE) model, this is called the optimizing translator.
(2) A component, usually the Data Interchange Services translator component, responsible for translating a document from one format to another.

(1) Pertaining to a switching device, such as a toggle key on a keyboard, that allows a user to switch between two types of operations.
(2) To switch between two modes on a computer or network; for example, to switch between data entry and command entry modes or between stand-alone operation and device emulation.
Industry:Software
(1) An IBM-supplied name that uniquely identifies the system. It is used as a network value for certain communications applications such as APPC.
(2) An IBM-defined name that has a predefined meaning to the COBOL compiler. System names include computer names, language names, device names, and function names.
Industry:Software
