Sometimes referred to as “Big Blue” IBM is a multinational corporation headquartered in Armonk, New York. It manufactures computer hardware and software and provides information technology and services.
In high availability disaster recovery, a state in which the standby database might not have applied all logged operations that occurred on the primary database. In this state, the standby database retrieves and applies previously generated log data to synchronize with the primary database. There are two types of catchup states: local and remote.
Industry:Software
In BSC, the control character that is sent to a receiving system or to a device connected to a receiving system to select that device to receive the output.
Industry:Software
In cross-site mirroring, pertaining to the mirror copy data state that indicates that the correct order of updates to the mirror copy from the production copy is being preserved, but the mirror copy may be outdated. The usable mirror copy data state occurs (a) when the system performs geographic mirroring in synchronous mode, (b) after successfully suspending geographic mirroring, and (c) when the mirror copy is successfully detached.
Industry:Software
In high availability disaster recovery, an option that specifies the level of coordination between the primary and standby databases when logs are sent from the primary database to the standby database in peer state. Synchronization mode determines the balance between performance and the potential for data loss. See also asynchronous mode, synchronous mode, near synchronous mode.
Industry:Software
In BSC, the mode during which the communications adapter is looking for synchronization characters.
Industry:Software
In cross-site mirroring, pertaining to the mirror copy data state that indicates that the mirror copy contains incoherent data. This occurs (a) during synchronization because synchronization does not preserve the order of writes and (b) if a failure occurs while performing geographic mirroring in asynchronous mode.
Industry:Software
In high availability disaster recovery, the main database, which is accessed by applications. Applications apply updates to the primary database, and those updates are propagated on the standby database by using log shipping.
Industry:Software
In BTS, property of a task can be reattached ("reactivated") when a predefined event occurs, in order to take the next in a set of processing steps. See also activation.
Industry:Software
In cross-site mirroring, pertaining to the mirror copy data state that indicates that the production and mirror copy have exactly the same contents.
Industry:Software
In high availability disaster recovery, the state during which the primary database ships new log pages from its in-memory log buffer to the standby database when the same log pages are written to the log disk of the primary database. See also asynchronous mode, remote catchup state, near synchronous mode.
