Употребата на звук со висока фреквенција за да се создаде слика на внатрешните органи за медицински дијагностички цели. Уредот Ултрасонографијата пренесува звучни бранови директно во телото, а потоа прецизно го бележи времето за кое ехото се враќа на приемникот, многу сличен на радарот. Звучните бранови кои се користат се на фреквенции над прагот на човековиот слух - на пр., 20.000 вибрации во секунда.
