derecho canónico

Las reglas (cánones o leyes) que sientan las normas para el buen orden dentro de la sociedad visible de la Iglesia. Las leyes canónicas que tiene aplicación universal están contenidas en los Códigos de Derecho Canónico. El Código de Derecho Canónico más reciente fue promulgado en 1983 para la Iglesia Latina (en Occidente) y en 1991 para la Iglesia de Oriente (el Código de los Cánones de las Iglesias Orientales).
